Well, we survived (and so did the kids!) our 10 year anniversary trip to San Fran! We arrived on Monday, checked into the hotel and then headed down to Fisherman's Wharf to do a night tour of Alcatraz. It was AWESOME! We loved it! It was amazing, to say the least!
We went to Sonoma on Tuesday for some wine tasting and DeLoach Winery was incredible! We had probably 12 or 13 glasses (total....not each!) and I think Derek needs to be stationed in Petaluma so I can work at a winery now. Seriously. We headed to Healdsburg for a little lunch and hit up La Crema (Derek's FAVORITE wine is La Crema Pinot Noir), had another incredible tasting of about 8 wines, signed up for the wine club and headed back to San Fran!
We drove down Lombard Street (I so wanna live on that street too!), piddled around Chinatown, and then decided to hit up a casino! What an adventure that turned out to be. A $10 blackjack table and they charge you a "collection fee" every single hand. So its really $11 per hand. Whatever. 30 minutes, $200 and a strange looking beer with a coffee lid on it later, we are outta there! We tried to hit up a Chipotle, but there was no parking, so we drove back to Fishermans' Wharf for dinner and ended up at a Chiptole! We have never been and it wasn't too bad.
Then.....it was on to Oakland! Derek is a HUGE Oakland Raiders' fan and we couldn't NOT go there! The stadium doesn't do tours (and its all decorated up for the A's right now) but we got as close as we could to the stadium. On a whim, Derek put an address in the GPS and we found their FRONT OFFICE! I thought he was gonna die right then and there! Too bad it was about 630pm otherwise, he probably would have tried to see Mark Davis!
We drove down to San Jose to visit the Winchester Mystery House and loved it! Sadly, no pictures can be taken inside the house at the moment because Paramount (I think it was them) has optioned it for a movie about the Winchester family. But, it was a great tour. We ended our trip to a great restaurant in Fisherman's Wharf called Cioppinos and then went back to the hotel to enjoy the last night of uninteruppted sleep! I can't wait for the next one......
